Sifan Hassan stunned the athletics world with a miracle 1500 metre win this week after falling over on the final lap.
World champion Sifan Hassan made an incredible recovery from a fall at the final bell to win her 1500 M heat at the Tokyo Olympics on Monday.
Hassan picked herself up after getting in a tangle while racing with Kenyan runner Edinah Jebitok at the start of the last lap. She sped around the outside of the pack on the back straight and ended up crossing the line first in 4 minutes and 5.17 seconds to qualify for the semifinals.
Hassan also qualified for the 5000 M later in the week.
In my personal opinion this is really cool because the dedication she had to get back up after a fall in the Olympics when everyone is watching is really hard. I can barely say a speech in front on my class witch has only 31 people. Meanwhile there were cameras filming for everyone in the world to watch her. She is very courageous!
How many times do you think people have fallen over at the Olympics?
Hi Kaden, this is Libby from Otaki college.
ReplyDeleteIt is cool how you chose to write about this.
I like how you laid out your work and how you added your question at the end.
It is also cool how you added something from your own opinion in it.
I think that lots of people have fallen in the Olympics.
Good job.
Libby.
